Common roof-leak paths
Water can enter through cracked or displaced tiles, roof penetrations, failed flashing, deteriorated ridge capping, valleys, roof sheets, gutters or drainage paths. It may travel along roof structure before showing inside.
What you can safely note
- When the leak appears and whether it follows wind-driven rain
- The location of visible staining or dampness
- Any missing tiles, loose material or overflowing gutters visible from the ground
- Your suburb and roof type, if known
Keep safety first
Do not climb onto a wet, storm-damaged or unfamiliar roof. If there is an immediate electrical, structural or personal safety risk, keep clear and contact appropriate emergency or qualified services.
